Development and our village
Charlton Village is a place we are proud to call home. CVRA works to protect it from overdevelopment and unsuitable development that could harm residents, our environment or the character of the village. We look closely at safety, flood risk, noise and pollution, as well as the effect on local services, drainage, traffic and our road network. New development should be appropriate to its location and supported by the infrastructure it needs. We listen to members, seek clear evidence and represent the community’s views, while recognising that well-considered development can bring benefits. Below you can explore local proposals and decisions, see their status and open the original records. Statuses reflect the date shown; follow the official record for later updates and consultation deadlines.

Looking out for one another
Sharing practical advice, keeping informed and helping Charlton Village feel connected, cared for and safer.
Charlton Village has a registered and approved Neighbourhood Watch scheme. It brings neighbours together around a simple idea: we can all play a part in looking out for one another and caring for the place we call home.
Neighbourhood Watch is a volunteer-led movement. Its work includes sharing crime-prevention advice, raising awareness and helping people feel more connected to their community. Getting to know our neighbours can make it easier to notice when someone needs support, share useful information and offer a friendly word.
For Charlton Village, this means encouraging everyday awareness: keeping homes and belongings secure, recognising scams, checking information before passing it on and considering neighbours who may feel isolated. You do not need specialist knowledge to contribute. Small, thoughtful actions can strengthen the community around us.
We will use this page to share reviewed Neighbourhood Watch circulars, articles and alerts that are useful to Charlton Village residents. Information received by email is checked before publication. Please look at the publication date and follow the original official guidance where a circular provides it.
Neighbourhood Watch does not replace the police or an emergency service. Do not put yourself at risk or confront someone you suspect of a crime. Report concerns directly to Surrey Police using the appropriate reporting route. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening now, call 999. The website and CVRA email are not monitored as an emergency service.
Joining Neighbourhood Watch is free and separate from CVRA’s voluntary household membership contribution. The national website explains how to join and find a local scheme. If you would like to help support Neighbourhood Watch in Charlton Village, please get in touch with the CVRA Committee.
