Charlton Lane BESS — approved on appeal
A battery energy storage facility on land north-east of the Eco Park was approved on appeal on 16 January 2026, following the council’s refusal.
The proposal is for battery energy storage and associated equipment, access and infrastructure on land off Charlton Lane. The appeal decision describes 25 containerised battery units, storage of up to 200 MWh and export capacity of up to 200 MW.
Spelthorne refused application 24/01112/FUL on 18 September 2025. The Planning Inspector allowed the appeal on 16 January 2026 and granted planning permission subject to conditions. The council summary therefore shows the original refusal alongside an allowed appeal; the overall outcome is approval on appeal.
